Summary

Geopolitical turbulence has fundamentally reframed the energy debate. Security and affordability have risen as primary political drivers, paradoxically strengthening the case

for renewables now pursued as much for independence and price stability as for decarbonization.

To initiate the next strategic phase of the Energy Access and Poverty Pillar (EAPP), this session focuses on the critical transition from data collection to data application. With

opening reflections on the initial years of the EAPP and a panel of speakers working 2 directly on the ground, participants will inform the roadmap for the pillar’s future and

explore how robust reporting can better support city-led implementation and global energy goals.

12:00 - 12:10: Introductory presentation from EAPP Co-Chairs, GCoM and JRC

12:10 - 12:30: Panel discussion featuring a Kenyan subnational leader and civil society

practitioner on the opportunities of deepening work on energy access and poverty and

multilevel governance.

12:30 - 12:50: Facilitated breakouts at tables

12:50 - 13:00: Report back of the key questions and ideas raised and closing
