Around the world, national platforms that support cities in their climate action journey are emerging. These have substantial potential to strengthen multi-level governance, deliver on the Paris Agreement and NDCs at the local level, as well as reinforce efforts undertaken under key climate neutrality initiatives such as Mission Innovation and the EU Mission for Climate Neutral and Smart Cities. National platforms’ strong connections to cities, as well as their engagement in international partnerships, are key factors.
This joint session, hosted by CapaCITIES, Driving Urban Transitions Partnership, the Urban Transitions Mission and Viable Cities, aims to showcase concrete examples of multi-level collaboration and opportunities for delivering CHAMP objectives. It will also explore the role of global and European initiatives assisting cities in becoming climate-neutral and resilient. The objective is to:
Highlight outcomes and best practices from countries, cities and national platforms around the world
Showcase how cooperation can be strengthened by connecting initiatives and introducing innovative approaches
Inspire long-term partnerships between Europe and the Global South
