This session presents Expo City Dubai’s Green Innovation District (GID) as a practical, district-scale model translating global climate ambitions into locally actionable solutions through multi-level governance and cross-sector partnerships.
Anchored in a real-world case study, the session will explore why the district was established, how it aligns national sustainability strategies with city-level implementation and how partnerships with business, academia and policymakers accelerate climate-responsive industrial development.
Speakers will share lessons learned from launching the UAE’s first Green Innovation District, including the Green Licence framework, light manufacturing zones, enabling policy instruments and corporate collaboration models.
The session will highlight innovative governance structures, regulatory tools and partnership mechanisms that empower cities to scale sustainable industry, attract climate-aligned investment and embed resilience into economic development strategies.
Participants will leave with practical insights on how to operationalise multi-level coordination to deliver climate action at district scale. https://www.expocitydubai.com/en/media-cent
