Summary

This session addresses the vital intersection of climate justice, indigenous wisdom, and sustainable urban development across the Global South. Indigenous peoples are currently on the front lines of the climate crisis, yet their ancestral knowledge remains an essential but underutilized resource for resilient city planning. This event highlights the "Living Labs" methodology, where indigenous women lead co-creation processes to transform traditional environmental management into actionable urban policies

Moderated by Sandra Cerrato F, Director General of the Instituto para el Desarrollo Sostenible de la Mujer Lenca de Honduras, the session will demonstrate how the defense of territorial rights and the application of legal frameworks—integrated with digital innovation—empower indigenous communities to transition from vulnerable observers to active decision-makers in their territories. The Lenca people’s experience in Honduras serves as a scalable and transferable model for other regions within the global network.

Lead panelist Fuad Karimli, representing the Global South NGO Platform, will offer a strategic perspective on how the platform’s 116 organizations foster international
