Summary

This session will present the estimated costs of key investments for low-carbon and resilient urban development in low- and middle-income countries from 2020-2050 across key sectors: transport; building energy; solid waste management; water and wastewater; flood protection; and heat resilience. These estimates were produced for the World Bank study "Banking on Cities: Investing in Resilient and Low-Carbon Urbanization" (2025), and are available at the regional level.
