Summary

Rapid urbanization and climate pressures are reshaping cities, yet persons with disabilities remain excluded from urban innovation ecosystems. Assistive technologies- when aligned with strong advocacy and enabling policy frameworks- can transform access to mobility, housing, employment, and services. Drawing on NCPEDP’s advocacy work and Assistive Technology Hub experience, this session explores how cities can scale inclusive innovation that is affordable, locally driven, and policy-supported.

Objectives:

1. Demonstrate how advocacy accelerates adoption of assistive technologies in cities

2. Share lessons from operating an Assistive Technology Hub in a Global South context

3. Connect innovators, governments, and OPDs to co-create inclusive urban solutions

4. Identify pathways for scaling assistive technology through city systems
