Summary

This call-to-action event focuses on the need for a global network of transformative community action at the intersection of climate change and housing.

By bringing together research institutions, local communities, municipal governments, grassroots and transnational organizations, the session seeks to discuss the strategic focus and structure of the network, how it may inform the IPCC SR on Cities and translate its findings, and create impact through supporting urban transformation at the community level.

Participants will explore the network's strategic focus and its potential to translate research into actionable urban climate initiatives. Building on insights from WUF 13, the fishbowl discussion will aim to define consolidation and operationalization of the network. The session will feature an IPCC author discussing community-level transformations and their impact on ambitious climate action. The session will conclude with a compelling call to action, inviting participants to join this global initiative, with a concrete goal of signing Letters of Interest with interested institutions to formalize their commitment and engagement.
