Powering Cities of the Future: Piloting Scalable 100% Renewable Solutions

This session explores a pioneering pilot initiative organized by the Urban Transitions Mission (UTM) in collaboration with the Green Powered Futures Mission (GPFM), aimed at accelerating the transition of cities to 100% renewable energy and distribution network transformation. The discussion will spotlight innovative PV planning solutions and cutting-edge technology supporting urban energy systems, identified with the support of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and currently tested in Yancheng. The session will highlight how microgrid development, optimized decentralized energy systems, and advanced storage solutions can help communities reach their targets as part of their overall transition to net-zero futures.

Kisumu County, the first pilot of this initiative, will offer a powerful testimonial of how the explored solutions support its ambitious roadmap to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2050.
