Summary

Cities are on the frontlines of climate change, yet many urban governments struggle to translate climate data and scientific research into effective local policies and actions. At the same time, youth are emerging as key actors in developing innovative and data-driven solutions for sustainable urban development.

This session will explore how youth-led initiatives and digital tools can support cities in designing and implementing climate mitigation and adaptation strategies. Through a panel discussion, young researchers, urban practitioners, policymakers, and community representatives will share experiences on integrating climate data, technology, and local knowledge into urban planning.

The discussion will highlight case studies such as urban emissions monitoring, digital climate platforms, and community-based data initiatives led or supported by youth. It will also address barriers including limited technical capacity and access to climate information, while exploring ways to strengthen collaboration between cities, research institutions, and youth networks to accelerate urban climate action.
